The Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) invites applications for one (1) Research Assistant position for the project  "Representative Government Through Democratic Governance (REPGOV)", funded by the European Research Council (ERC). Professor Anthony Bertelli is currently seeking a pre-doctoral researcher to assist with a series of targeted literature reviews in both law and social sciences. Tasks include the following:

  • Conduct reviews of secondary literature targeted questions
  • Conduct highly targeted reviews of primary sources
  • Produce memoranda in English summarizing these literatures
  • Organize and filing source materials

Qualifications for the position include: 

  • First-degree in law, history, political science or sociology
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
  • Excellent spoken and written Spanish language skills
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Research Masters in a related field is preferred, but not required

The position requires a time commitment of 10 hours/week for 2 months (extendable to 3 months if necessary). The successful candidate does not need to be based in Barcelona, but a small number of in-person meetings are required. The monetary stipend is commensurate with that for similar positions at IBEI.
