The course syllabus provides a comprehensive structure of study, annually revised, which is designed to stimulate continuous learning. IBEI combines its core faculty of internationally recognized international studies scholars, with affiliated teaching staff from its partner universities in Barcelona, to provide high-quality teaching and student-oriented services.

The programme's syllabus is made up of a combination of core subjects and a wide range of electives designed to reflect the students' individual interests, comprising a total of 120 ECTS credits. The Research Master’s in International Studies includes three different types of courses and a final thesis:

  • Core courses: 46 ECTS credits
  • Elective courses: 44 ECTS credits
  • Final Research Project (Thesis): 30 ECTS credits

In addition to the syllabus content, the Institute hosts conferences and research seminars on a number of key international studies issues by leading national and international experts periodically throughout the year. These debates and presentations are open to Master's students and the broader IBEI community.
