Based on his recently published book, El futuro del caplitalismo, the lecture surveys several competing theories about the future of the capitalist order, including those of Marx, Schumpeter and Daniel Bell. It will then consider the present trends of the system and put forward a theory of its current transformation and likely development after the present recession. The reasons for its continued vitality will be analyzed, as well as its serious dysfunctions.
