IBEI’s Master’s degree programmes awarded the additional dimension of internationalisation with an overall rating of progressing towards excellence
The Master’s degrees in International Relations and in International Security taught by the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) and jointly awarded by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, were awarded the additional dimension of internationalisation with an overall rating of progressing towards excellence by the Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU).
Both Master’s programmes had already been accredited with excellence, having successfully passed the accreditation process last year. This means that most criteria set out in the AQU’s Guide to the accreditation of recognised Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes were met with quality above the minimum levels.
In order to certify that a university degree provides added value and stands out above the minimum thresholds guaranteed by the compulsory accreditation of all university programmes, AQU Catalunya offers the possibility of requesting an assessment of additional dimensions. Internationalisation is one such additional dimension.
This accreditation is awarded to programmes whose results show that:
- The design of the programme fosters the acquisition of skills that facilitate the academic and professional development in international environments.
- Faculty have international experience and participate actively in networks.
- There is a high degree of mobility among students and teaching staff.
The awarding of this distinction to the IBEI confirms that its Master’s degree programmes have a clear international vocation, are geared towards fostering the internationalisation of its students and promote the international activities of its teaching staff, all of which is backed by a supportive environment that ensures good results.
