Biography

Chris van der Borgh is associate professor of conflict studies at Utrecht University and coordinator of the MA program Conflict Studies and Human Rights. His research interests include international intervention and post-war reconstruction, civic space, and security politics. He has extensive field experience – both as a practitioner and a scholar - in El Salvador. His PhD thesis (1999, Utrecht University) deals with the role of external donors in processes of local development and peacebuilding in El Salvador. Recent publications about El Salvador are on street gangs and government and international policies dealing with this new security threat. More information about Chris, here.
