Credits: 6 ECTS
This course aims to provide students with an overview of the main issues currently alive in debates on public administration reform and in public management.
The course includes two types of sessions: lectures, focusing on the main conceptual frames on each topic, and seminars where real world cases will be discussed counting with the participation of practitioners that either will come to class or that the class will go to visit.
Evaluation will require that each student:
- Submit 2 practical cases and 3 practical exercises proposed in class.
- Exercises will combine information from the required reading and some original contribution by the student. The deadline for submitting each exercise is the day and time of the class.
- Takes a final written exam which may cover any of the topics dealt with in the course. Optional reading is not required for the exam.
- Actively participates in class discussion of readings and visits.
The final grade will be calculated as follows: the average of the grades obtained in the 5 exercises will be weighted 50%; the grade obtained in the written exam 40%, and participation in class 10%.
