Descripción

This course aims to provide students with the analytical tools and practical skills required to understand how the EU works, the challenges it faces, and the solutions it can bring. The European Union represents a unique model of cooperation between states and it is an important player in international relations. It is therefore useful for students enrolled in the Master in International Relations or in International Security to have a clear understanding of its institutions, decision-making processes, main policies, challenges and possibilities.

In this course, the students will learn to navigate through the complex network of EU actors and policies. In an academic year full of important events on the European stage (Brexit, new European Commission, new European Parliament, negotiations towards the Multi-Financial Framework 2021-2027, etc), the students will improve their ability to analyse developments in the European integration and understand their causes and effects. The students will acquire their skills and knowledge through a mix of interactive sessions, practical case studies, students’ presentations, simulation exercises and direct interaction with EU officials.
