As part of the RECONNECT research project (Reconnecting citizens to the administrative state?), which is funded by the H2020 programme and the Ministry of Science, the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) organizes the “Barcelona Workshop on Consumer Protection in Europe”.
This is a two-days event that will take place at IBEI on Thursday and Friday, April 20th and 21st, 2023.
From a public policy approach, RECONNECT investigates how calls for more ‘responsive’ administrative state institutions have developed – both among citizens and politicians – and how the administrative state has sought to become more responsive, especially when simultaneously faced with expectations of neutrality and impartiality. In the framework of the project and at IBEI, we are particularly interested in the role of public bodies (e.g., consumer protection agencies or ministries) in the construction of consumer protection regimes in Spain (regional and national levels) and in Europe.
The workshop is structured around presentations with academic experts and policymaker on consumer protection issues in Catalonia, Spain and Europe.
