Procés de selecció

Following the HR Excellence in Research, IBEI ensures that selection, promotion, and professional development opportunities are based on competencies and qualifications.

In accordance with its internal policies and within its legal boundaries, IBEI hereby commits itself to applying the stated principles via its human resources policies for researchers and to promoting transparency, accessibility, equity, and the pursuit of excellence in the recruitment of researchers.

As a summary of the procedure, the stages of recruitment are as follows:

1. Job advertisements

The Communication Department at IBEI will publish job advertisements and disseminate them as much as possible. Job advertisements will be published at least three weeks in advance. The channels used will be:

  • IBEI website
  • IBEI newsletter
  • EURAXESS Jobs portal
  • Social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Dissemination via e-mail to specific contacts such as university departments, PhD schools, and research centres.

2. Submit an application

All applications will be submitted to the Research Coordinator or the email address mentioned in the job advertisement.

All candidates will receive a confirmation of their submission. If any document was missing, we would request it.

During the recruitment process (submission period or evaluation process), candidates can contact the Research Coordinator to enquire about the status of their application or the evaluation process.

3. Evaluation and Selection Committee

The Evaluation and Selection Committee will be composed of a gender-balanced representation of IBEI members that had received prior approval by the IBEI Director. In the cases of tenure-track and tenured positions at IBEI, the Academic Staff Commission will be also involved in the selection process, according to the rules established in IBEI statutes. When it comes to lower-rank positions (i.e. research or teaching assistant), only those involved in the relevant project or task will be responsible for the assessment of applications.

The Evaluation and Selection Committee will take into consideration the requirements of the European Charter for Researchers and the EU Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

4. Shortlist and interview stage

The Evaluation and Selection Committee, or the Academic Staff Commission, will provide a shortlist of candidates to the Research Coordinator, who will contact them in order to schedule the interviews. These interviews will be conducted in person or online.

The specific structure of the interview will be defined by the Evaluation and Selection Committee in accordance with the position. In general, interviews consist of an introduction of the candidate (10-15 minutes), a discussion regarding their experience and background (10-15 minutes), a presentation of their research or a specific paper (15-20 minutes), and other questions from the committee (15-20 minutes).

5. Selection and hiring

The Evaluation and Selection Committee, or the Academic Staff Committee, will contact successful candidates with an offer. Once confirmed, the Research Coordinator will start the hiring process by requesting their personal data via email. In case successful candidates need a residence permit, NIE, or any other legal requirement, the Research Coordinator will guide them in this process.

6. Unsuccessful applications

All candidates who submitted an application during the recruitment process will be informed about the result of their application. Both those who were not shortlisted and those who advanced to the interview stage but were not selected will be contacted.

7. Data protection

All information contained in the application documents will be treated with the strictest confidentiality. Only those IBEI faculty members involved in the selection process, as well as the Research Coordinator will have access to the submitted documents.
