Michael W. Bauer is Professor at the School of Transnational Governance. He is Jean Monnet Professor of the European Union and Chair of Comparative Public Administration and Policy Analysis at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer. He holds a Masters in European Studies in Politics and Administration of the College of Europe, Bruges and a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence.

His research focus and teaching experience lie in European Multilevel Administration, Public Administration, Comparative Policy Analysis.

He has worked extensively on multilevel public administration at the international, European and national level. He is interested in the comparative analysis of administrative structures and the consequence on public policy-making. Current projects include investigating the autonomy of international bureaucracies, studying implementation conflicts in EU annulment litigation and surveying the attitudes of subnational and supranational public servants to European integration.
