Issues, Actors and Policy in International Studies

The increasing complexity of global politics, be it as a product of interdependence, late modernity and ‘risk society’, technological change or the shifting power dynamics of the international system, have resulted in an ever greater need for interdisciplinary studies. This course is located at the nexus of the study of international politics, security and development, drawing on all three areas of expertise within IBEI to explore change and continuity global studies.
The course is structured in 12 sessions, each tackling a different contemporary issue with wider-reaching implications for global politics. Sessions are divided between formal lecturing, small-group discussions, presentations and written exercises.
