The course examines major contemporary issues in conflict and security studies with a particular focus on transformations in the nature and dynamics of war, the role of non-state actors in conflict and security provision, and the range of new security issues. The course seeks a balance between conceptual grounding and practical knowledge of policy issues. The goal of the course is to provide students with a background on contemporary security debates and develop their capabilities as policy analysts on issues related to global conflict and security challenges.
