The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB) , the Institut d’Estudis Internacionals de Barcelona (IBEI) and the Alliance for cooperation between Latin American cities (AL-LAS) organize an International Conference on the Metropolitan Areas International Strategies, which will exchange experiences and strengthen ties with cities like New York, Montreal, Johannesburg, Lima, Mexico City, Manchester or Medellín.

This international conference aims at sharing and discussing the international action undertaken by metropolitan governments as a public actor, as well as the different ways of cooperation with different stakeholders in order to carry out the global agenda.

It will also serve as preparatory work ahead of the United Nations Conference Habitat III on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, taking place in Quito (Ecuador) in October 2016.
