University of Glasgow - IBEI double degree
Together with the University of Glasgow we offer a two-year dual degree study programme that focuses on International Law and the Politics of Global Security.
On successful completion of the programme, students will be awarded with a Master's in International Security from IBEI and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law and Security from the University of Glasgow.
Programme structure
The two year study programme will be completed at IBEI and University of Glasgow, whereby students will spend the first study year in IBEI (September to August) with July and August dedicated to the production of a non-credit bearing 5,000 word dissertation. The second year at University of Glasgow lasts from September to the following August.
Background and aims
This innovative double degree, which combines the Master’s in International Security from IBEI and an LLM in International Law and Security from the University of Glasgow, offers in-depth knowledge of a wide range of security issues and their intersection with international law, especially the laws of armed conflict, human rights, and UN law.
The interdisciplinary programme will provide students with a holistic perspective on the contemporary political, strategic, ethical and legal challenges global security issues pose and the ways in which they can be addressed.
Career prospects
There is a high demand for law professionals with expertise in international law and security. You will be well placed for roles in international institutions, government departments (ministries of foreign affairs, defence, justice, home affairs, and development), non-governmental organisations and law firms.
