Professor Sergio Aguayo (El Colegio de México) will deliver a conference about the two pillars of organized crime’s extraordinary empowerment. The first one is the “dual state”, the existence of two governments. Aguayo will concentrate on the second pillar centered on geopolitical factors and select the most important events in the century that goes from 1920 to 2022.

Scholar and political analyst, Sergio Aguayo has been a research professor at the Center for International Studies of El Colegio de México since 1977, and has Level III in the Researchers System. He currently coordinates the Seminar on Violence and Peace at that institution. He completed his Master's (1971), Ph.D., and Post-Doctorate (1977-1984) at Johns Hopkins University. He has taught at various universities in Mexico, the United States and Europe. His first journalistic column appeared in a Guadalajara newspaper in 1971. He currently publishes every Wednesday in Reforma and 14 other newspapers. Since March 2001, he has been a member of Primer Plano, a weekly program on Channel 11, and from 2009 to March 2015, he participated in the Political Table of Carmen Aristegui on MVS.
