Mundus MAPP

Admissions requirements

Mundus MAPP is open to both European and overseas (third country national) students. Mundus scholarships are provided for the best eligible applicants by the European Commission.

Minimum requirements are:

Bachelor's degree (completed at least three years of undergraduate study - normally at least with Second class Honours);

Fluency in English:

Mundus MAPP does not require a language certificate from applicants from the following countries, provided that they have received a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English:

Australia, Botswana, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda (English-speaking region), South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, UK, USA, and Zambia.

Applicants from countries other than these may request a waiver from the English language admissions requirement if they completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.

All other applicants will need to provide evidence of their English language skills with any of the following exams, with the minimum grades stated below: 

  • TOEFL (Paper version; taken on/after January 3, 2017) 580 or above;
  • TOEFL (Internet version; taken on/after January 3, 2017) 92 or above;
  • IELTS - International English Language Test (taken on/after January 3, 2017) 6.5 or above;
  • Cambridge Proficiency Examination (taken on/after January 3, 2014) C or above;
  • Cambridge Advanced English Test (taken on/after January 3, 2014) B or above.

Although Spanish is no longer a requirement for mobility tracks involving IBEI, basic knowledge of Spanish is recommended as some electives will only be available in Spanish.

High motivation and interest in European and international public policy.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.

How to apply

Admissions to Mundus MAPP are centrally administered by the Central European University in Budapest. Qualitative assessment of the candidates is performed jointly by the four consortium universities. Please note that only applications submitted to CEU in the way detailed below will be considered. It is not possible to apply to Mundus MAPP universities other than CEU.

Candidates are required to fill in an online application form.

Besides submitting the online application form candidates will be required to upload supporting documentation. The list of these documents and the relevant forms are available on the Prospective Students part of the Mundus Mapp website.

Results of first academic review available in SITS/via email.

February 21, 2019
Appeals for academic review may be submitted until this date. Applicants who wish to submit an appeal must follow the official appeals procedure.

Mid-March, 2019
Merit lists finalized. Applicants informed unofficially.
Appeals for final decisions. Applicants who wish to submit an appeal must follow the official appeals procedure.

April, 2019
Official Acceptance Forms will be sent out.

April 8, 2019, 23:59 Central European Time (CET)
Final application deadline for applicants who do not wish to be considered for financial aid.

April 29-May 2, 2019
Admission decision on April applicants.

Acceptance Forms will be sent out to admitted candidates who confirm their intention to enroll in the program. Accepted students will be expected to return their signed Acceptance Forms, pay their deposit and provide official copies of their full academic records to confirm their enrollment.
