Call for Papers: Genocide Studies & Spain

The Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) and the Journal of Genocide Research are hosting a one-day workshop on 'Genocide Studies and Spain' in Barcelona on Friday 22 November 2013.  We are seeking scholarly contributions on any and all aspects of collective violence in Spain, whether related to the Franco period or to previous periods of large-scale social violence. We are open to submissions from all disciplines and are particularly interested in theoretically-oriented proposals that are grounded in empirical work, archival or otherwise. Abstracts of approximately 300 words (written in English, as the proceedings will be in English), accompanied by a CV, should be sent to Dr. Jens Meierhenrich <J.Meierhenrich@lse.ac.uk> by 31 August 2013. The event will be preceded by a public lecture by Professor Paul Preston (London School of Economics) on Thursday 21 November.
