EUROPEAN PUBLIC POLICY CONFERENCE 2012
18-20 April 2012
Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI)

Public policy students from the Global Public Policy Network organize and convene the annual European Public Policy Conference in different European cities. In 2012, the EPPC will be organized by students from the Hertie School of Governance. Past conferences were held in Budapest, Athens and Istanbul.

The goal of the conference is twofold. First, it should provide all participating students with the opportunity to meet, discuss and learn about interesting topics in public policy. Public policy students with different backgrounds who study at various institutions will listen to experts on contemporary issues and present their own work. Networks between students of the GPPN schools and the host institution should develop and grow. Second, students will gather valuable experience in conference organization. Students themselves have agreed on a conference topic. They organize correspondence among the participating institutions, arrange the conference days and identify speakers and commentaries.

The upcoming conference will be held on 19-20th April 2012. The topic of the conference is taking a unique perspective on economic crisis – including aspects such as the social and political effects of crises rather than just looking at traditional economic models. Experience from the last two conferences has shown that 50-70 students from the partner institutions will attend.
