IBEI strongly suggests applying through the online application form.

The admission process is conducted on a rolling basis, thus applications can be submitted at any time during the year before 18 July 2008. In general, candidates are strongly encouraged to apply early in the previous academic year since they need time to gather all the required documents and sort out their funding. Please bear in mind that fulfilling the minimum requirements is no guarantee for being offered a place in the programme as there are usually more applicants than places available.

The Admissions Committee begins evaluating applications in February. Students will be notified about the decision of the Admissions Committee by email.

Incomplete applications will not be evaluated by the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Office will try to notify applicants of missing documents or information, but candidates should bear in mind that it is their responsibility to ensure that all documents are submitted on time. The curriculum vitae, motivation letter and reference letters have to written in English, Spanish or Catalan.

The completed application form must be accompanied by the following documents:

• University degree (certified copy). Applicants who have not yet obtained a university degree at the time of submitting their application will be considered by the IBEI Admissions Committee. If accepted, they must send a copy of the degree before the commencement of the course in September 2008.
• Academic transcripts (original or certified copy).
• Short up-to-date curriculum vitae. Please indicate your academic background and work experience(s) as well as extracurricular activities which may be of interest to the Admissions Committee.
• For non-native speakers, proof of proficiency in English and/or Spanish (see detailed information under Admissions Requirements)
• Motivation letter. Applicants must outline their academic and personal background and state the reasons why they are interested in participating in the Master in International Relations (500-1.000 words).
• Two reference letters. These letters must be submitted in sealed envelopes (signed by the referees) by either the student or the referee, or emailed directly by the referee to the admissions department to the email address as indicated on the reference form. (download in word or pdf)
• Copy of identity card or passport
• Three recent passport-sized photographs
• If necessary, official translations of the respective certificates and transcripts if these documents are not in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian or Portuguese.

Students who are not citizens of a European Union (EU) country should be aware that obtaining a Spanish visa may be a rather lengthy process. We strongly advise non-EU students to apply as early as possible as early admission to the programme allows you to apply for visas well in advance of your stay in Barcelona.

Students requiring a letter of acceptance to the Master, either to apply for a visa to the Spanish Embassy of their country or to apply for a grant, may obtain one by asking us once accepted to the programme.

The tuition fee of the Master in International Relations is 8.700 euros and includes all programme activities and obligatory reading material.

Candidates who are admitted to the programme must pay a non-refundable deposit of 1.000 euros in order to guarantee a place. Please bear in mind that this deposit is not refundable under any circumstances. The payment deadline will be indicated in the acceptance letter.

The remainder of the tuition fee, 7.700 euros, must be paid before the commencement of the Master in September 2008.
