IBEI’s study scheme has an innovative structure, stimulating continuous learning, with a highly qualified faculty, linked to the three universities which jointly offer the degree, and other prestigious international academic institutions.
The new edition of the Master 2008-09 includes some changes and increases significantly the course catalogue. The new study scheme comprises compulsory courses, to be taken by all students, and a broad range of electives offering the possibility of choosing different pathways, either by subject or by geographical area. There are three different subject pathways: 1) Global Governance; 2) Security and conflict resolution, and 3) Political economy and development.
The Master programme in International Relations comprises three different types of courses and a dissertation:
- Compulsory courses : 24 ECTS credits (according to their previous degree, students may be allowed to según los estudios previos realizados, es posible equiparar alguna materia obligatoria por un número equivalente o superior de créditos de materias optativas)
- Pathway core courses : 6 ECTS credits (students are required to select a course according to the chosen pathway)
- Electives : 20 ECTS credits
- Dissertation : 10 ECTS credits
Additionally, throughout the year students and academic staff will be able to attend several conferences and seminars. These include seminars given by prestigious international politicians and professionals who will transmit their experience in a direct way, conference-debates and research seminars delivered by prestigious academics, both from Spain and abroad, on their work in progress.

Workshops
Throughout the year, IBEI offers several workshops in order to help students develop their skills in applied analysis as well as their communication and interaction skills. Students are required to attend at least two of these workshops as a complementary training.
