Global governance is a topic of increasing interest today . It addresses important issues concerning the transformation of the governmental systems of the world, regional integration, the relationship between diverse levels of government, and the definition of a new role for international organizations. As well, the appearance of new actors on the international scene is having a major impact on the processes of global governance, stimulating new public policies for the production of global and regional public goods.

The substantial increase in processes of cooperation as a consequence of, among other factors, the growth of international trade and the introduction of new supranational systems of integration has entailed the creation of new work practices, incipient regional production of public goods, and a new definition of the role of traditional multilateral organisations (in terms of finance , regulation, distribution, etc.) in order to facilitate deeper international integration and cooperation.
