Organizational structure

Within a short timeframe the IBEIMUN delegation has to overcome many organizational difficulties. Participating in a Model United Nations conference requires a lot of preparation work, not only with regard to training and logistics, but also concerning financial issues. In order to be as effective as possible, the IBEIMUN delegation is made up of three committees that work together to make our participation a real success:

• The Organizational Committee,

• The Financial Committee,

• Training Committee.

Each committee has its own working field, contributing to the shared goals of IBEIMUN.  The members of the above-mentioned committees work together with the responsible Head of Committee on their specific tasks, knowing that the delegation can only be successful when everybody is involved.  In addition, all IBEIMUN delegation members will take part in various joint activities, such as participating in negotiation workshops, debate training, studying ‘our’ country’s background, or attending guest lectures. Additionally, the IBEIMUN delegation is supported by the Advisory Committee.

Head Delegate :
The main tasks of the IBEIMUN Head Delegate are coordinating, monitoring and stimulating the various committees, keeping an overview of what is taking place within the IBEIMUN. Additionally, the Head Delegate will be supervising and taking action when required, as well as providing support to the various committees whenever possible.

Organizational Committee:
The Organizational Committee focuses on conference registration and logistics, such as organizing travel arrangements, hotel accommodation, and social activities.

Financial Committee:
The Financial Committee is in charge of guarding the budget and making sure enough funds are received. Fundraising is very important because the IBEIMUN delegation would not exist without the financial support of our sponsors. Contacts about funding with (local) businesses, non-profit sector foundations, research institutions and university administration are very important and should be handled with care. Additionally, because applying for funds and subsidies can be rather complicated, this challenge is tackled by a relatively large group of IBEIMUN members.

Training Committee:
The Training Committee is responsible for training activities, in order to insure that all IBEIMUN delegates are up for the challenges that are set by the high level of a Model United Nations conference. It will organize and execute several joint activities, making sure expertise is developed in important areas, such as public speaking, resolution drafting, lobbying, and negotiating. Additionally, this committee will spread knowledge about the rules of procedure of a Model United Nations conference, as well as general background and the country to be represented by the IBEIMUN.

Advisory Committee:
The most important tasks of this committee are:

• Giving advice to the delegation members with regard to their participation to the 2009 HMUN Conference, either when requested by the delegation or whenever members of the Committee of Recommendations feel suited to do so;

• Whenever their agenda makes it possible, assist Delegation meetings or events as a VIP guest.
