FRED HALLIDAY

 


Born in Dublin , Fred Halliday studied at Queen's College, Oxford and the School of Oriental and African Studies, London . A specialist on Middle Eastern affairs, with particular reference to Iran , Halliday speaks Arabic and Persian. He is ICREA Research Professor at IBEI. He is an editorial associate of the Middle East Research and Information Project (MERIP), and a regular on ABC, BBC and CBC radio and TV broadcasts. TNI Fellow from 1975 until 2000, Halliday serves as an advisor on Middle Eastern, Central Asian and Eastern European matters. He was awarded an ICREA senior professor-researcher position. The Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies (ICREA) is a foundation jointly promoted by the Catalan government through the Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI).


CATERINA GARCIA
 

CATERINA GARCIA holds a Bachelors in Information Science (1982) and a second in Educational Science (1983), followed by the completion of a Doctorate in Political Science in 1991. She is currently a professor at the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and one of the professors of the module on International Relations at the Master. As a  published author her works consist of a wide range of articles on political and International relations topics and one of her most well-known books is El Imperio Inviable. El orden internacional tras el conflicto de Irak (2004) which provides an in-depth analysis of the shift on the US Foreign Policy alter 9/11.

PABLO PAREJA

 

Pablo Parjea is Academic Coordinator and lecturer on the Master in International Relations programme at IBEI and, since 2004, has been lecturer at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). A graduate in Political Science from this university, he pursued postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Georgetown, Washington D.C. Prior to joining the institute, he worked at the University of the Western Cape (South-Africa), at Human Rights Watch, at the Washington Office of El País and as an electoral observer in Cambodia. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Asociación Española para las Naciones Unidas.


FERRAN INIESTA

FERRAN INIESTA is a distinguished anthropologist specialized in African issues, specifically those related to South-Saharan countries. Currently, he is a professor of African Studies on the Master in International Relations programme at IBEI. He is a professor at the University of Barcelona (UB) and has also been a professor at Dakar University (Senegal) and Antananarivo University (Madagascar) which led to his current knowledge and expertise on the field.  He is coordinator of ARDA-RIDA, a network of invesitgation on African Studies and he has established the specialised magazine in 1989.Studia Africana  Antiguo Egipto. La nación negra (1989), El Planeta negro (1992,1998,2002) and Kuma.Hª de la Africa negra (1998) are some examples of his work.
