The presentation will tackle with different policy dialogue tools used for the implementation of energy projects. Among others, I will discuss with participants UfM Energy Platforms as an example of multilateral dialogue tool for energy projects and Southern Energy Corridor negotiations as an example of bilateral dialogue process.

Dr. Olgu Okumus is a senior project manager in the Energy and Climate Actions division of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretariat. She is responsible for regional project promotion, including conducting energy and climate finance negotiation policy dialogues with governments, international finance institutions and both government-based and non-government-based donors. Among her successes, she coordinated the first-ever UfM Ministerial Declaration on Energy, with a focus on sustainable energy policy. She also regularly drafts concept notes and agendas for UfM’s policy dialogue platforms on energy and climate change. As UfM’s focal point for harmonizing international financial institutions’ energy and climate mechanisms in the UfM region, she organized the UfM Regional Climate Finance Cooperation Committee. As part of her daily work at UfM's Secretariat, she oversees UfM collaboration and project development with other international institutions, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Energy Agency, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Commission (EC), and several UN agencies.
