Jacint Jordana has been the Director of IBEI since June 2005. He is a Professor of Politics and Public Administration at the Pompeu Fabra University. He received his BA in Economics and Business in 1987 and his PhD in Economics in 1992, both from the University Barcelona. He has been Dean of Politics and Public Management Studies (1996-1997), General Secretary (1997-1999) and Vice-rector for Assessment and Teaching (2001-2003) at the Pompeu Fabra University. His main research area is the comparative analysis of public policies, with special emphasis on regulatory policy and its specialist institutions.
His publications include the books Governing Telecommunications and Information Society in Europe (Edward Elgar, 2002), and together with David Levi-Faur, The Politics of Regulation (Edward Elgar, 2004). He edited The Rise of Regulatory Capitalism: The Global Diffusion of a New Order (Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, 598, 2005). His most recent publications include articles on the diffusion of regulatory institutions, decision-making in policy networks and development. From 2005 to 2010 he was co-chair of the ECPR standing group on regulatory governance.
