Mundus MAPP

Admissions requirements

Mundus MAPP is open to both European and overseas (third country national) students. Mundus scholarships are provided for the best eligible applicants by the European Commission.

Minimum requirements are:

Bachelors degree (completed at least three years of undergraduate study - normally at least Second Class);

Fluency in English:

Mundus MAPP does not require a language certificate from applicants from the following countries, provided that they have received a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English:

Australia, Botswana, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda (English-speaking region), South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, UK, USA and Zambia.

Applicants from countries other than these may request a waiver from the English language admissions requirement if they completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland.

All other applicants will need to provide evidence of their English language skills with any one of the following test scores: 

  • TOEFL (Paper version; taken on/after January 11, 2015) 580 or above;
  • TOEFL (Internet version; taken on/after February 11, 2015) 92 or above;
  • International English Language Test (IELTS; taken on/after January 11, 2015) 6.5 or above;
  • Cambridge Proficiency Examination (taken on/after January 11, 2012) C or above;
  • Cambridge Advanced English Test (taken on/after January 11, 2012) B or above.

Although Spanish is no longer a requirement for mobility tracks involving IBEI, basic knowledge of Spanish is recommended as some electives will only be available in Spanish.

High motivation and interest in European and international public policy.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.

How to apply

Admissions to Mundus MAPP are centrally administered by Central European University in Budapest. Qualitative assessment of the candidates is performed jointly by the four consortium universities. Please note that only applications submitted to CEU in the way detailed below will be considered. It is not possible to apply to Mundus MAPP universities other than CEU.

Candidates are required to fill in an on-line application form.

Besides submitting the on-line application form candidates will be required to upload supporting documentation. The list of these documents and the relevant forms are available on the Prospective Students part of the Mundus Mapp website.

Admissions calendar

First application deadline for applicants who do not wish to be considered for financail aid and request an early admission decision.

December 20, 2016
Early application decisions are communicated by this date at the latest.

Application deadline for applicants who wish to be considered for financial aid.

April 2, 2017 onwards
Application and financial aid decisions are communicated.

May 4, 2017
Final application deadline for applicants who do not wish to be considered for financial aid.

April-June, 2017
Enrollment Confirmation Forms are sent out to all admitted candidates, with or without scholarships, who confirm their intention to enroll in the program.
Accepted students will be expected to return their signed Enrollment Confirmation Forms, pay their deposit and provide official copies of their full academic records to confirm their enrollment.

The online application form for 2016-18 is available on the CEU website. This application facility will enable the electronic submission of the application form itself as well as all other relevant documentation. Please review the list of the documents you will need to prepare or arrange for submission before starting the application form.
