Biography

Antonio Díaz has developed most of his research career in the field of intelligence studies and surveillance societies as well as the research on sensitive topics. In this field he has recently published a book on how to research on sensitive topics on criminology and security and there is a forthcoming book project (2023) with Springer publishers; he is also a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the University of Cádiz. His academic career goes through the Universities of Barcelona and Burgos, having developed his predoctoral period at the General Gutiérrez Mellado University Institute and pre and postdoctoral stays in prestigious intelligence study centers such as King’s College and the Brunel Center of Intelligence Studies. Internationalization has therefore been one of his priorities, which shows his research stays in London and Glasgow as visiting scholar, as well as his work as an evaluator in FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe and MSCA programs. He is currently deputy editor of The International Journal of Intelligence, Security, and Public Affairs of the Taylor & Francis Group, and coordinator of the Summer School of the Erasmus Mundus International Master on Intelligence, Security and Strategic (IMSISS).

His latest research project as Principal Investigator is 'Technology and societal control: Democratic governance of the security in Andalusia' (2021-2023). Plan Andaluz de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación PAIDI2020_C.20_00941.
